Cursor is a code editor where AI is part of every action: completion, chat, agents that edit several files and automatic code review. The tool changed hands in 2026. SpaceX closed the acquisition of Anysphere, its parent company, on 14 August 2026, and the plans now revolve around Grok models. This page sums up what changes for the teams that use it.

Cursor is developed by Anysphere, a company founded in 2022 in San Francisco by Michael Truell, Sualeh Asif, Aman Sanger and Arvid Lunnemark. The editor builds on the VS Code experience and brings AI into every layer.
SpaceX announced a purchase right on Cursor in April 2026, exercised it on 16 June and closed the deal on 14 August 2026, at an implied value of $60 billion in stock (Cursor on Wikipedia). Cursor thus joins SpaceXAI, the entity that develops Grok.
The most concrete change shows on the pricing page. Plans include Grok models, Grok Chat and perks on X. Third-party models, including Anthropic's and OpenAI's, remain available in Cursor but are billed separately, at their API list price (Cursor pricing page). A team that coded with Claude in Cursor therefore needs to review its budget.
The prices below were taken from the official pricing page on 23 October 2026, in US dollars, excluding tax.

|---|---|---|

| Ultra | $200 a month | Fifty times Plus usage and early access to new features |
| Teams | From $30 per user per month | Centralised billing, SSO and a team marketplace for rules and skills |
Cursor remains a polished editor for developers who want AI at the heart of their environment. Its move to SpaceX changes the equation, though. The base plans steer towards Grok, and Claude or GPT models add a variable cost. Our team works with Claude Code, which includes Claude models in the subscription.
Our AI and automation services help teams choose their AI-assisted development tooling and fit it into their processes.
Yes, with a limited number of agent and chat requests. The Plus plan starts at $8 a month and Premium at $30.
A code editor derived from VS Code, in which AI agents write, edit and review code. It has belonged to SpaceX since 14 August 2026.
Yes. Third-party models remain available from the Premium plan, but they are billed on top of the plans, at their API list price.
Cursor suits those who want a full editor with built-in AI. Claude Code suits those who want an agent that works in their existing environment, with Claude models included.
